Winkel, in welchem ein Luftstrom auf eine Fläche trifft, wodurch
das (Auftriebs-) Verhalten eines Segels oder Flügels beeinflußt
wird. Beim Segel entspricht der Anstellwinkel dem Winkel zwischen der
Richtung des Bordwinds und der Sehne der Segelwölbung. Er läßt
sich sowohl durch den Segelschnitt
als auch durch die Segelstellung
beeinflussen, um eine für bestimmte Windverhältnisse optimale
Ausnutzung der Windkraft zu erreichen. Diese ist jedoch für die gesamte
Segelfläche eine Durchschnittsgröße, da das Segel an verschiedenen
Stellen eine unterschiedliche Wölbung aufweist. Grob gesagt verfügen
bauchige Segel (z.B. Spinnaker) über einen Anstellwinkel von 25°-35°,
bei flachgeschnittenen Segeln beträgt er 15°-20°. |

the angle between the chord line of an airfoil and the vector representing
the relative motion between the airfoil and the air. It can be described
as the angle between where the chord line of the airfoil is pointing and
where the incoming air is going.
In sailing the angle of attack is the angle between a mid-sail and the
direction of the wind. It is controlled 'passively' by the sail
cut and the choice of sail as well as 'actively' by the sail
trim. In order to maintain the optimal angle, one must adjust
the position of the sail(s) with reference to the direction of the wind
and the ship's course more or less continuously. However, if expressed
mathematically the angle of attack is only an average of all angles over
the sail area which shows continuously varying cambers across the expanse
of a sail. Roughly spoken the angle of attack for low-cambered sails is
between 25°-35°, for high-cambered sails (e.g. spinnaker) 15°-20°. |
