Peak-Forestkanaal | ca. 24 km lang narrow canal in Noord-Engeland tussen Bugsworth en Dukinfield. Het kanaal werd tussen 1794 en1804 gebouwd en bestaat uit een beneden- en een bovenpand zonder sluizen, die door 16 achter elkaar gekoppelde sluizen met een verval van totaal 64 m bij het plaatsje Marple zijn verbonden. Peak-Forest-Kanal | rd. 24 km langer narrow canal in Nordengland zwischen Bugsworth und Dukinfield. Der Kanal, der 1794-1804 entstand, besteht aus einer 'oberen' und einer 'unteren' schleusenlosen Haltung, die beide durch eine Schleusentreppe aus 16 Schleusen bei Marple verbunden sind. Die Marple Locks überwinden einen Höhenunterschied von 64 m. Die Marple-Dukinfield-Strecke ist Teil des sog. Cheshire Ring. In Marple besteht Anschluß an den Macclesfield Canal, in Dukinfield an den Ashton Canal. | ||

Peak Forest Canal | 14.9-mile long narrow canal in North England from Bugsworth to Dukinfield. Built in the years 1794-1804 it is formed by an upper and a lower pond with a difference in height of 209ft, overcome by a flight of 16 coupled locks. The Marple Locks link both sections which themselves have no locks. The Marple-Dukinfield is part of the Cheshire Ring route. In Marple it connects to the Macclesfield Canal, in Dukinfield to the Ashton Canal. | ||
