het Rochdalekanaal in Manchester
met het Peak-Forestkanaal
bij Ashton-Under-Lyne, die 1796 geopend en 1799 over de hele afstand gereed
werd. Het kanaal met 18 sluizen maakt deel uit van de zog. Cheshire
Ring, een route van 160 km met 92 sluizen, die het hele Macclesfield
Canal en delen van het Ashton-, het
Trent and Mersey, het Bridgewater,het
Rochdale, en het Peak
Forestkanaal Canals omvat. |

Ashton Canal |
opened in 1796 and completed in 1799 it runs
from the junction with the Rochdale Canal
at Manchester to the Junction with the Peak
Forest Canal at Ashton-Under-Lyne. The canal is 6.8 miles long
and has 18 locks. It was reopened in 1974 as part of the Cheshire
Ring, a 97-mile canal route with 92 locks that takes in the whole
of the Macclesfield Canal
and parts of the Ashton, Trent
and Mersey, Bridgewater,
Rochdale, and Peak
Forest Canals. |
