	Theems		ca. 346 km lange rivier die bij de Thames Head in Gloucestershire ontspringt en als lange mondingstrechter bij Sheerness in de Noordzee uitmondt. Het bevaarbare gedeelte bestaat uit de Theems boven Lechlade (alleen voor kleine sportboten), een gekanaliseerde deel tussen Lechlade en Richmond en een getijrivier beneden Richmond. De Theems is door verschillende zijkanalen met het waterwegennet verbonden, waarvan zij de zuidelijke grens is.
	Themse		rd. 346 km langer Fluß, der am Thames Head in Gloucestershire entspringt und als langer Mündungstrichter bei Sheerness in die Nordsee mündet. Der schiffbare Teil der Themse gliedert sich in einen nur für Sportboote befahrbaren Abschnitt oberhalb von Lechlade, einen für kanalisierten Teil von Lechlade bis Richmond und der im Gezeitengebiet liegenden unteren Themse. Die Themse ist über verschiedene Seitenkanäle mit dem englischen Wasserstraßennetz verbunden, dessen südliche Grenze sie bildet.
	River Thames		With a total length of 215 miles the river rises at Thames Head in Gloucestershire, and flows into the North Sea via the Thames Estuary. It is made up of the River Thames above Lechlade, the River Thames above Oxford, the River Thames below Oxford, the River Thames tidal section, the River Thames tidal section below the flood barrier, the Sheepwash Channel, the Racecourse Yacht Basin Approach Channel, the Clifton Weir Stream, the River Thames (River Kennet), the Reading Jail Loop, and the Desborough Cut. The River Thames is navigable from Lechlade to its estuary. The River Thames above Lechlade is navigable only for very small boats.
