heeft zich beton als bouwmateriaal voor schepen niet kunnen doorzetten omdat
hier voldoende staal aanwezig was en vanwege de vele nadelen die beton heeft. |

Wasserfahrzeug, dessen Körper aus Spannbeton
monolithisch hergestellt oder aus Spannbetonzellen zusammengesetzt ist.
Das Betonschiff erlangte besonders in den Ländern Bedeutung, die über
keine eigene Stahlproduktion verfügten. Der Bau größerer
Serien von Schuten und Schleppern bis 500t ist aus Kuba, Sri Lanka und Indonesien
bekannt. In Europa, hat sich Beton als Schiffbaumaterial aufgrund der Verfügbarkeit
von Stahl und den vielen Nachteilen von Beton nicht durchgesetzt. |

However, concrete could not nearly fulfil the hopes put into it in the
1920s. There are only a few countries like Cuba, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia
- countries without a noteworthy steel production - where many small concrete
barges and tugs were built. |
