Würde man von oben die Segelstellung betrachten, könnten man indes sehen, daß der Wind, der für beide schräg von vorn einfällt, in Wirklichkeit vom Segel des Lee-Boots so abgelenkt wird, daß das Luv-Boot noch härter am Wind segeln muß, um dem Lee-Boot nicht zu nahe zu kommen. Andererseits kann es aber auch nicht abfallen, da es dann entweder droht, in das Lee-Boot zu fahren oder diesem einen zusätzlichen Vorteil verschafft: Das ist dann der Fall, wenn das Segel des Luv-Boots seinerseits den Wind in eine Richtung ablenkt, die für das Lee-Boot noch günstiger ist, da es sein Ziel noch härter anhalten kann, während dem Luv-Boot wenig Spielraum bleibt, da das Lee-Boot ihm keinen Platz läßt um raumer zu segeln oder abzufallen.
