Dann wird das Ruder mittschiffs gelegt. Bei einem stabilen Schiff sinkt die Drehgeschwindigkeit auf null. Bei einem instabilen Schiff fällt die Kursänderungsgeschwindigkeit ab, ohne ganz auf Null zu gehen. |

pull-out manoeuvre | a simple test used to obtain a rapid
indication of the stability of a straight-line course held by a ship. A rudder angle of approximately 20° is applied and time is allowed to pass until the ship reaches a constant change of heading rate; at that instant, the rudder is returned to midships (neutral position). If the ship is stable, the speed will drop to zero both for port and starboard rudder changes. If the ship is unstable, the change of heading rate will drop to some residual speed rate. |
