nl polyurethaanlak   harde, bestendige en duurzame laklaag op basis van polyurethaan. Polyurethaanlakken zijn verkrijgbaar als een- en twee-componentenlakken. Bij een-componentenlak vindt de verharding plaats onder verwarming tot 150° of meer. Bij twee-componentenlak zijn verharder en basislak gescheiden. PUR-lakken zijn bijzonder hard, krasbestendig en bestand tegen water, olieen en chemicaliën. De lak is geschikt voor hout, kunststoffen, metalen en beton. Na een eerste fase van hard worden kan de stof verder verwerkt worden (bijvoorbeeld geslepen), terwijl de lak verder hard wordt. De lagen lak zijn echter gevoelig voor UV-stralen en kunnen als gevolg van hitte of stoten loslaten.

Beim Einkomponentenlack erfolgt die Aushärtung durch die Einwirkungen der Luftfeuchtigkeit oder durch Erwärmung auf 150 °C und mehr. Beim Zweikomponentenlack sind Härter und Stammlack getrennt. PUR-Lacke sind besonders hart, abriebfest und beständig gegen Wasser, Öle und Chemikalien. Der Lack eignet sich für Holz, Kunststoffe, Metalle und Beton. Nach der Anhärtung kann der Werkstoff weiterbearbeitet (z.B. geschliffen) werden, während der Lack durchhärtet. Allerdings sind die Lackschichten UV-empfindlich und können sich durch Hitze oder Stoß ablösen.

comparable in hardness to certain alkyds but generally form a tougher film. They can be applied to wooden as well as plastic, metal and concrete surfaces. However, a thick film of ordinary polyurethane may de-laminate if subjected to heat or shock, fracturing the film and leaving white patches. This tendency increases with long exposure to sunlight or when it is applied over soft woods like pine.

Exterior use of polyurethane varnish may be problematic due to its heightened susceptibility to deterioration through ultra-violet light exposure.
