	middelbreedtekaart platkaart		in de cartografie een cilinderprojectie, waarbij om een globe een cilindervormige 'mantel' wordt gelegd, zo dat deze de globe langs de evenaar aanraakt. De punten van het aardoppervlak worden zo op de cilindervormige mantel afgebeeld dat de sferische afstand van een punt P op de globe gelijk is aan de afstand van beeldpunt P1 vanaf de equator op de cilindervormige mantel, en dus op de kaart. Het kaartoppervlak heeft vierkante netvormige mazen. Deze voorloper van de huidige zeekaart is niet hoekgetrouw, en niet oppervlaktegetrouw, en behoort tot de arbitraire projecties.

Das Kartennetz weist quadratische Netzmaschen auf. Dieser Vorläufer der heutigen Seekarte ist weder winkeltreu noch flächentreu und zählt zu den vermittelnden Entwürfen.
