Winkel, den ein Flüssigkeitstropfen auf
der Oberfläche eines Feststoffs zu dieser Oberfläche bildet.
Die Größe des Winkels zwischen Flüssigkeit und Feststoff
hängt ab von der Oberflächenspannung der Flüssigkeit und
ihrer Wechselwirkung mit einem Gegenstand an der Berührungsfläche.
Ist die Flüssigkeit Wasser, dann ist der Kontaktwinkel ein Maß
für die hydrophoben (wasserabstoßenden) oder hydrophilen Eigenschaften
einer Oberfläche: je kleiner der Kontakwinkel, um so hydrophiler
die Oberfläche und umgekehrt. |
