layer; the D-layer is of minor significance except for a tendency to absorb
energy from radio waves in the medium frequency range). Situated about
175 miles above the earth’s surface, the F-layer exists as a single layer
only during the hours of darkness. It divides into two separate layers
(F 1, F 2) during daylight hours. |
