	Drake-passage Straat Drake		zeestraat tussen de zuidpunt van Zuid-Amerika (Kaap Hoorn) en het schiereiland van Antarctica. De passage verbindt de Atlantische Oceaan met de Grote Oceaan. Hij is vernoemt naar zijn ontdekker Francis Drake (die toen echter koos voor de Straat Magellan). De Straat Drake is ongeveer 400 zeemijlen breed en vrijwel eilandloos, wat de Antarctische circumpolaire stroom de mogelijkheid geeft, als enige zeestroming rond de hele wereld te stromen.
	Drake-Passage		Wasserstraße zwischen der Südspitze Südamerikas (Kap Hoorn) und der Nordspitze der antarktischen Halbinsel, die den Atlantischen Ozean mit dem Pazifischen Ozean verbindet. Ihr Name geht auf Francis Drake zurück, der sie auf seiner Weltumseglung entdeckte (sie aber nie durchfuhr, sondern die Magellan-Straße wählte). Die Straße ist rd. 700 km breit und fast frei von Inseln. Durch sie fließt der Antarktische Zirkumpolarstrom, die einzige Meeresströmung, welche den gesamten Globus zu umfließt.
	Drake Passage		strait between the southern tip of South America (Cape Hoorn) and the northern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula which connects the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans. It has its name from Sir Francis Drake who 'found' it on its voyage around the world (but chose for the Strait of Magellan further north instead). There is no significant land anywhere around the world at the latitudes of the Drake Passage (which itself is about 500 sm wide), which allows an unimpeded flow of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current around Antarctica.
