There are connections between the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean around Cape of Good Hope (southern tip of Africa) as well as through the Mediterranean Sea, the Suez canal and the Red Sea, and between the Atlantic and the Pacific Ocean around Cape Hoorn (Patagonia), the Panama canal, and via the Arctic Sea through the Bering Strait. Major marginal seas are the Norwegian Sea and the North Sea in the North, the Sargasso Sea and the Caribbean Sea in the midwest.
